Bank Verification Number, BVN, is a Central Bank of Nigeria initiative to check fraud in the banking system by giving every customer in the Nigerian banking system a unique identification number that can be verified across all banks in Nigeria.

Things You Need To Know About BVN
1.Your BVN gives you a unique identity that can be verified across ALL Nigerian Banks (it is not peculiar to one Bank)

7.The deadline for registration is Tuesday, 30th June, 2015.
8. A small temporary registration acknowledgement slip will be issued to you, followed by an email or SMS conveying a similar information.

OTHER BANKS
Thats all i could get my hands on, based on friend's questions. however, if your bank isnt present here, once again,here is
the procedure i used to find this information
1. firstly, ask their twitter customer care team if there is an sms code or online portal or email address you can send your bvn details to while waiting for the answer,
2. google to see if there is an sms code for BVN linking for the bank,
3. then google to see if there is an online portal for BVN linking for the bank,
4. if not, and if the twitter team havnt answered, try their facebook customer care team,
5.call their customer care if all fails,
6.and then if all these still fail, go to the bank.
